Sage Ceramics
Distinctive ceramic pieces by Storrington artist Yvonne Kirk.

My name is Yvonne Kirk, I am a wife, mum, grandma and a full-time potter!
My passion for ceramics started in 2006 whilst living in Western Australia where I attended a “Year in Clay” course at Fremantle Arts Centre. I now work from my home studio in Storrington, West Sussex where I create my ceramics from white earthenware and stoneware clays; using mainly throwing techniques to produce functional ware and decorative pieces. My designs are simple, fresh and uncomplicated. I find inspiration from so many things around me – walks along the South Downs, my garden, flora and fauna, seasons, countryside, and coast.I find all elements involved in the creation of a piece from the initial design process, working with the clay to make a pot, on through first firing, decorating and glazing, followed by the final firing, totally absorbing and therefore very therapeutic. There is a wonderful rhythm involved with the whole process – you cannot rush any part, so a lot of patience is required in the creation of a piece.
My ceramics are an integral part of my life and I am constantly seeking to improve and develop my skills as a ceramicist.
